Wind action and structural design: a history

摘要

In the following a short, non strictly scientific, history of the relation of wind and structures is reported. Wind and structures, that in ancient centuries have different field and meanings, in recent times have become closer and closer. Wind is now one of major design loads for tall buildings, for long bridges, for large roofs and for energy wind structures installations. The history of the study of wind and its effects on structures is here delineated underlining the significant steps of development.
