In this paper a method of repairing brick masonry chimneys is presented. Instead of utilizing external binding we propose inserting anchors inside the flu and passing a steel cable through the eye rings. The cable is closed in a ring form and prestressed. These rings should be placed at predetermined distances one from the other. This technology ensures the structural monolithicity and stabilizes the cracks in the chimney without damaging its architectural integrity. FEM was utilized to analyze the stress caused by the repair at the linear elastic field in the presence of the self-weight of the chimney and wind.
