摘要

The Hueihe River Basin is the second largest inland basin in the Northwest China. The climate is dry and water resources are scarce. The Gobi, desert and deserted lands are also part of the landscape. Therefore, the ecosystem is very fragile.This study focuses on the Middle Hueihe River Basin with an area of 8200 km~2. The basin is a geo-tectonic sedimentary basin bounded by the Qilian Mountains in the south and low hills in the north. A groundwater model was constructed with the conceptual model approach based on GMS (Groundwater Modelling System) and Arc View platforms. The calibrated model was able to represent the regional groundwater flow pattern and suitable to simulate groundwater development scenarios.
