Coumarin dyes are well known as high efficient sensitizers for photopolymerization. However, till now, all reported two-photon absorbing (TPA) cross-sections of such dyes are small, ~1-50GM, which limit their applications on two-photon polymerization. In this study, a series of novel coumarin derivatives linked with a N, N-dimethylaniline group via cyclopentanonediene on position 4 of the coumarin ring were synthesized and their two-photon absorbing properties were characterized by femtosecond laser pulses. All compounds showed a greatly enhanced. In addition, these dyes showed efficient photopolymerization initiating properties. A self-accelerate phenomenon was observed in their photobleaching process.
