The photo-reactivity and physical properties of the hyperbranched poly(ester)s (HBPEAc) and poly(urethane)s (HBPUAc) containing methacryloyl groups were examined. HBPEAc was prepared by the polyaddition of bisphenol-A diglycidyl ether (BPGE) with trimesic acid (TMA) and methacrylic acid (MA) using tetrabutylammonium chloride (TBAC) as a catalyst in one-pot method. HBPUAc was synthesized by the polyaddition of 4,4'-diisocyanate (CMDI) with trimethylol propane (TMP) and 2-methacryloyloxyethyl isocyanate (MOI) using dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) as a catalyst in one-pot method. The photo-initiated radical polymerization of the obtained HBPEAc and HBPUAc were examined in the presence of 2-methyl-1-(4-(methylthio)phenyl)-2-morpholinopropan-2-one (Irgacure 907~(OR)) as a photoinitiator in the film state upon UV irradiation, and it was found that the photo-initiated radical polymerization proceeded smoothly to give the cured films. It was observed that the crosslink densities of cured films of the hyperbranched polymers were higher than those of linear ones. Furthermore, alkaline-developable hyperbranched poly(ester) (HBPEAc-COOH) containing carboxyl groups was obtained by the addition reaction of cis-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (THPA) with HBPEAc. The patterning property of the obtained HBPEAc-COOH was also examined.
