We investigated the sintering behavior of water atomized FeAl alloy powder in argon atmosphere to determine it's sinterability at different temperatures for extended periods of time using a dilatometer. We show that that the shrinkage rate is higher at higher temperatures, and that FeAl can be sintered to a maximum density of 90% TMD even when sintered at 1350℃ for 40 hours. Sintering experiments were also carried out in air and we clearly show that sintering in air lead to thermal expansion as opposed to shrinkage. Full densification of FeAl requires investigations with sintering additives.
