An Open Framework of Information Integration in CIMS:Product Data Management Based Engineering Database Management Environment

A product data management based engineering database management environment as an open framework of information integration in CIMS is represented in this paper. The approach entails the use of intelligent Synergetic MetaDataBase Modules (SMDBM) to construct an integrated engineering information environment based on Product Data Management (PDM). The Synergetic MetaDataBase (SMDB) enables flexible product data management, which allows both product data models supplied by applications of STEP protocol and unique rules or any other protocols. Therefore, the management of heterogeneous data in distributed engineering environment opening to the CIMS of entire enterprise will be realized. We have applied this technology in BR-CIMS project. It will support the information integration on functionality of the management of engineering archives、 product structure、 workflow and project of the engineering subsystem.
