The ultra wide band antennas are very useful for the current trend applications especially for mobile phones. Due to compact area, ease of fabrication, high frequency operation, conformability, microstrip antennas gain popularity in majority of the applications. The basic rectangular patch antenna is designed using the transmission line model analysis and for the inset feed that operates at 2.4GHz. The design is varied for different dielectric components with relative permittivity values. Further the patch is simulated with corner cuts to increase the gain. The designs are simulated in HFSS Tool. The parameters like gain and return loss are compared. The results show that the relative permittivity increases, the gain will also increase. Further if the corner cuts are made to the patch, then the gain further increases.
