EMS-6P is an innovative polymer processing aid (PPA) developed by Eishin Kasei Co.Ltd based in Yokohama, Japan. This new-patented product has been specifically designed to reduce the die build-up occurring during the processing of Polyolefins, Nylons and Polyesters. The chemical structure of EMS-6P involves a unique hydroxy-fatty magnesium salt structure. This product is halogen-free and non-animal base. Eishin Kasei Co. is currently applying for TSCA registration as well as FDA approval for the use in Polyolefins and Nylons. During the extrusion of films, sheets and fibers, PPAs are generally recommended to reduce: 1. The melt fracture by controlling the polymer flow and the shear stress inside the extruder. 2. The accumulation of materials at the die lip also called "die build-up". The die build-up is originating from both low molecular weight polymer chains and polar additives or fillers that tend to migrate towards the extruder wall and die.
