Locating Mobile Nodes within Logical Networks

A location service for nodes of a flat logical network is presented. The service accounts for mobility by allowing each node to transmit its current network address on to its logical neighbours. A node remains addressable even if its network address changes. Mobility requires this process to be efficient. This requirement is met by keeping the logical neighbours of a node identifiable even if the node physically moves in the network. A simulator is developed to evaluate the service. Simulations show good performance even with a low percentage of active nodes, and good scalability w.r.t. the size of the logical network.
