EHS Studies Associated with the Production of NCC™ at CelluForce

1. Spray dried form of NCC™ is a stable micron sized powder 2. OH&S testing indicated an increase in micron sized particulates during spray drying operations, however individual NCC™ crystals were not observed to be released into the air even during upset conditions 3. Standard PPE equipment should be able to control exposure to dust 4. Even though NCC™ has been shown to be similar in toxicity to cellulose, the mill employs the precautionary principle and uses full head covered hood with an air purifying system for long-term exposure 5. Aqueous releases of NCC™ from the CelluForce plant are effectively removed in the mill's treatment system and are not released into the aquatic environment.
