Radiation Detection at Major Public Events from the Perspective of the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection

The aim of this contribution is to describe the role of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection inrnsupporting a requesting German security authority during a major public event. As is widely known, there is notrnalways a direct threat concerning the misuse of RN-materials during the planning of a major public event orrnwhilst a major public event is in progress. However; if the police authorities deem it necessary, the FederalrnOffice for Radiation Protection can be called upon to support the security arrangements at major public events.rnOf course, the personnel and the equipment could also be called upon to search for RN-materials in the case of arnsuspected or definite nuclear security event.
