The ever increasing complexity and scale of Hong Kong buildings has driven a greater demand for sophisticated building maintenance control systems. As the traditional approaches are usually responsive rather than predictive, coordination fo the interactive determinants, operations, and building systems are usually poor. Thus preventive maintenance is a haphazard process and often financially difficult to rationalize. The Interactive Matrix facilitates the generation of comprehensive building maintenance management systems by the use of hypermedia technology. Instead of traditional multiple-independent filing systems it are represented in a multi-dimensional interactive grid, and related information are extensively linked to supplement one another. With the help that computer assisted intelligence provides, accurate control of preventive maintenance becomes realizable.
