From the Maxwell's Theory of Electromagnetic fields,the electrical conduction equation in bath of a round electric cleaning furnace is obtained, by which the electromagnetic characteristics of alternate current can be simulated more effectively than the former. In addition, a new approach to calculate the turbulent heat conduction conducitivity is presented, which can improve simulation accuracy. The simulation software developed by the authors can be used to obtain the electrical and temperature distribution, evaluate and optimize the design and operation of the furnace and decrease in the energy consumption. Based upon the advantages of less investment , simple and reliable operation and efficient recovery of valuable metals, electrical cleaning furnaces have been widely used in Non-ferrous metallurgy to process slags bearing high content of valualbe metals . But the design and operation of electrial cleaning furnaces have been in most cases dependent on empirical data. As a result, it is necessary to optimise their architecture and operation parameters to increase the heat efficiency, reduce the energy consumption and expend the life span ,in the light of numerical simulation approach.
