Steel TV-radio mast of 320 meters height was analyzed in this study. Two computational models were investigated: substitute model and 3D model. Based on the finite element analysis the following conclusions can be drawn:rn1. the results of analysis of both models are similar for the nodes displacements (8% difference for the vortex node) and guys internal forces (5%); big differences (reaching even 31 %) between two models occur when the core capacity is investigated,rn2. during the highest-level guy rupture (without wind load) there is a possibility that the mast collapse can be prevented. The guy rupture during an additional load (wind load according to national standards) causes the irrevocable collapse.
