The online calibration is essential to improve the performance of In-vehicle electronic control units (ECU), so a better study of online calibration memory, which is the carrier of control data, is crucial to in-vehicle ECU. In this study, control program, fixed control parameters and calibration parameters were allocated in flash memory and arranged in separate segments, calibration data in flash memory were copied into corresponding address of a special Random Access Memory (calibration RAM) during calibration process, one-to-one correspondence was implemented, and online calibration was carried out to those data in calibration RAM. Two schemes were designed for online calibration memory, calibration process control program, normal running control program, and the program for switch between the two programs above were designed respectively, which ensured that the calibration system could be plugged & played, and two sets of control programs could be switched on/off without any disturbance. Two schemes have been tested and successfully used in the national 863-research project QREV pure electrical vehicle and GD-1 high pressure common rail electronically controlled diesel engine respectively.
