Optimising maintenance dredging

In a quick scan are shown the basics in the innovation of the maintenance dredging in the port of Rotterdam. The results achieved so far are only possible in a good working relation between the employer and the contractor. As an employer we must avoid to consider the contractor just as a "rent-a-hopper-firm". To optimise the dredging practices it is also of importance to ask one self: 1. Is my way of executing efficient enough? 2. Can it be done in another way? 3. How does my neighbour do it? 4. Is his situation comparable with mine? In other words: "look for reference points to test your own methods of dredging".
