A Horseback Riding Therapy System using Virtual Reality and Parallel Mechanism

摘要

We developed a horseback riding therapy system using a mechanical horse for activating physical functions of healthy elderly people. The horseback riding therapy system is composed of three parts, a parallel mechanism, a virtual reality system, and a control system. The system provides also a way for practicing riding while enjoying it. The system has proved effective for aged persons to improve the muscles and capability of maintaining their balance.
