Review of Induced Gamma Emission Research and Recent Results -Implications for Further Progress

Recent advances in induced gamma emission make this exciting area of research look promising and poised for further progress. Recent experimental results have been reported that further confirm the triggering of the spin isomer ~(178)Hf~(m2). This marks an important advance in research on induced gamma emission. This paper reviews the recent work and discusses the role of the universities, the Air Force Research Laboratory, several DOE National Laboratories and the effect of international cooperation in bringing it about. The paper projects plans and prospects for further research.
