An attempt is made to make EEG data, which is stored in EDF (European Data Format) format available to anybody who has a connection to the Internet using a phone line or broadband using only "the web-browser". Java Servlets and JSP extend the functionality of the web server by servicing HTTP requests and returns results as HTTP responses. The multi-tier application separates the Presentation Logic, Application logic and data , which makes it very easy to maintain code and makes the application flexible and puts the code exactly where it belongs. The application provides all the benefits, which are available by remote facilitation of medical resources, and hence it is extensible to other forms of data over the Internet very easily. The monitoring capabilities intra-hospital (and inter hospitals) can be expanded without the need for installation of costly networking cables. Extending the "EEG over Internet" to those departments who refer the patients to Neuro-Electro diagnostic lab can increase the productivity of the hospital. The doctors can see the EEG results from virtually anywhere. Immediate results facilitate early diagnosis which is especially critical with stroke, head injury, and seizures. Thus a wider range of diagnostic services, and a higher standard of care to your patient population can be offered with very little investment.
