摘要

The service life of a concrete structure is modelled as a combination of time-dependent deterioration processes, mainly governed by environmental influence, which changes the material properties and the load-carrying capacity over time, and the structural consequences. In the paper the degradation of concrete is described and a discussion is made about how the environment influences the degradation. It is also shown two examples of service life predictions for concrete structures ― one example structures exposed to chloride penetration and one example with structures exposed to carbonation. These predictions are made with both a deterministic approach (only mean values) and probabilistic approach (both mean values and scatters) and the results are compared and discussed.
