Building XML Applications In Science And Technology: An XML Approach To Authentication In Scientific Documents

A wide spread using XML leads to a new challenge, i.e. XML document security will become a growing industry, in the era of information fusion. Building an XML - based security system for scientific data/documents is of interest in both academic research and industrial applications. This research aims at obtaining a solution in modelling XML-based security system for heterogeneous scientific data/documents. A part from XML family languages such as XML Schema, XPath, XSLT, a set of XML security technologies such as XML signature, XML encryption is deployed into investigation. Meanwhile, object oriented language like C# is integrated into the study. The developed software is able to create authorised electronic certificates automatically with XML output format. The signed documents can finally be saved as un-editable format, such as PDF. It concludes that XML technology provides facilities that secure information transmission at any level of document structures. Such a flexible framework can be achieved for representing digital signatures, especially for electronic certificates that need to be signed, authorised and stored in the content management system.
