Information retrieval is a core component in the knowledge management system. This paper proposes a new information retrieval algorithm using fuzzy concept network and user profile to retrieve task-relevant information in order to fulfill the information needs of knowledge workers. In the algorithm, a user's profile base on interest and task of user is represented by ontology. In order to overcome the drawbacks of the traditional information retrieval, fuzzy concept network is introduced and automatically constructed according to the user model. The algorithm can expand users' queries for fuzzy information retrieval in a more effective manner. Using the user's feedback about the search results, it is possible to change the value of the fuzzy concept network and improve retrieval precision. Experiment result shows that the algorithm can provide efficiently task-relevant knowledge for user's query.
