ChevronTexaco is responding to concerns about climate change with a four-fold plan of action. One facet of this plan is a commitment to reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) and increasing energy efficiency. Towards this goal, the company has developed processes and tools to enable the efficient management of greenhouse gas emissions from its facilities throughout their lifecycles, from planning through mature operation. In particular, a standard corporate process and tools for integrating greenhouse gas emissions management into the planning and review of new projects was rolled out in 2003. This followed ChevronTexaco's development and initial use of the SANGEA(TM) system to compile a comprehensive inventory of the greenhouse gas emissions from its worldwide operations and interests in 2002.
