Gas flow parameters in the feedstock injection zone of the FCC riser are investigated by employing 5-hole probe. The experiment was conducted in a large cold-riser model that was made of 0.186-m-ID Plexiglas. The cross-section of the nozzle is rectangle with the dimension of 40x10mm and the installation angle between the nozzle and the riser axes is 30 degree. The jet velocity is taken 41.67m/s, while pre-lifting gas velocity 7.16m/s. The experimental results show that the jet influential zone of the riser terminates at the height of 1.4m above the nozzle. Based on the flow feature, the whole feedstock injection zone can be divided into three regions: the core region, the deflection region and the fully developing region. By using k-ε turbulent model, the numerical simulation was also carried out. The simulation results agree with the experiments very well by introducing some modification of the jet outlet boundary conditions.
