Raw lacquer is used as a starting materials for the synthesis of urushiol resin, which is used as neutral carrier of a selective responsibility potential sensor for combination edible pigment sunset glow yellow. It has high sensitivity, reproducibility, selectivity, and linear response in the range of substrate concentration 1.0Xl0~(-2)~5.0Xl0~(-6)mol/L, with detection limit 2.2Xl0~(-6)mol/L, and slope 30.0 (30℃, pH6.5). Sunset yellow is a common yellow pigment in the field of medicine and food. It is produced from diazotization of sulfanilic acid followed by coupling with 2-naphthol-6-mahogany sulfonate, and finally product obtained from salt out of NaCl. This pigment has a certain toxicity, the most amount of use is 0.lg/kg according to GB2760-86, ADI (acceptable daily intakes) 0~2.5mg/kg, LD_(50) (half-lethal dose) >2.0g/kg (big mouse, taken orally ) according to FAD/WHO (1985). Standard method of content determination is titanium trichloride titration. The sunset glow yellow pigment in sale food is determined by the sensor, and result is basically the same from comparing with titanium trichloride titration.
