Different kinds of pigments, kaolin, ground calcium carbonates (GCC-HC60) and precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC-A40), with different amount of coating colors and latex, were used to find out the relationship between porosity and different shapes of the pigments. The solid content and the drying tempetature were also discussed to see the effection of these two parameters.rnHigh drying temperature always leads to high porosity for all the coating colors while low amount of latex (4pph) leads to low porosity for the film coated with A 40. At a high degree of the amount of latex (12pph), HC 60 works well with latex 319, while kaolin performs better with latex 300. As for the thin coating layers, HC 60 can bring us the best porosity.
