Preparation of liquefied wood-based resin and its application to molding material

To research the use value of liquefied wood-based resin application to molding material, Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) and poplar (Populus Tomentosa Carr) wood meal were first liquefied in phenol, and then the reactant was co-condensed with formaldehyde to get liquefied wood-based resin, the characterization of the resin and its application on molding material were investigated in this paper. The result shows that the basic properties of liquefied wood-based resin were satisfactory; the glue bond strength of plywood prepared by liquefied Chinese fir and liquefied poplar resin can reach 1.54Mpa and l.00Mpa, respectively. The Compression strength of the molding materials prepared by two kind of liquefied wood resins were 73.01Mpa and 73.58Mpa, it was almost the same with that of PF resin molding material. The limit volume swellings of molding materials made by liquefied Chinese resin and liquefied poplar resin were 8.5% and 8.3%, thickness swellings rate of water absorption were 3.3%and 4.2%, and the maximum weight ratio of water absorption were25.9% and 26.2%, respectively. The soil burial test result shows that the weight losses rate of the molding materials made by liquefied Chinese resin and liquefied poplar resin were 8.33% and 9.09%, and that of the PF resin molding material was 7.90%. Meanwhile, the declining ratio of Compression strength of the two kinds of molding materials after soil burial attain 16.92% and 17.67%, that of the PF resin molding material was 15.37%. The wood fungi inoculation on three molding materials surfaces test result indicates the breeding rate of molding materials prepared by liquefied Chinese resin and liquefied poplar resin were 4 level, and that of PF resin molding material was 1 level.
