A new all-season passive sampling system for monitoring SO_2 and NO_2 in the atmosphere developed at Maxxam Analytics Inc., a Chemex Labs Alberta and NOVAMANN International partnership, is reported int his paper. Compared to many other passive samplign systems, the unique features for this new system include a newly designed passive sampler, a rain shelter, and an equation associated with meteorological parameters for the calculation of passive samplign rates. A new collection media- CHEMIX for NO_2 ahs been developed in this lab and is presently undergoing field validation. The Chemeix shows great advantages compared to triethanolamine which is used to collected NO_2 by other groups.
