Xiaonanhai Reservoir embankment was formed by earthquake in 1856. The dam structure is loose, and cavities in dam body are so large that seepage develops in dam body. It is dangerous during reservior operation. Grouting is advised and adopted for this dam rem-edy after careful study by experts. Aarge quantity of clay, fine sand, sodium solicate, and fine aggregate are mixed in cement grout. After grouting, water seepage quantity was re-duced obviously and met the design requirements of seepage stability. The characteristics of grouting in this project are effective, without the damage to dam structure and cost.
