XCP [3] proposed by D. Katabi etc. is a promising scheme for future broadband network. Recent studies on XCP focused on steady behavior of XCP and cannot describe dynamic characteristics. This paper investigates the dynamic characteristics of XCP with single bottleneck in the microscopic time-scale of view. Analysis and simulation results show that: 1) the bandwidth utilization of an XCP bottleneck link converges to 1 in exponential rate; 2) throughput of an arbitrary subset of XCP flows at the bottleneck link will converge to its fair share exponentially. Our work validates the high bandwidth utilization and good fairness properties of XCP, and is the first to provide microscopic time-scale analysis of XCP.
