AQM: A Middleware-based Active QoS Mechanism of Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a hotspot in international research, but the discussion about QoS and middleware of WSN just begins recently. After the analyses of essential problems of WSN, this paper brings forward an Active QoS Mechanism (AQM) based on middleware, which is application, state and role-oriented, and some key points of AQM which includes the thinking of design, architecture, working procedure, information exchange and state evaluation are studied. Different with traditional QoS mechanisms, a feedback and negotiation mechanism between applications and networks are designed in AQM, and by using the dynamic regulation mechanisms of applications and networks, the networks can adapt themselves to the lowest QoS requirements of applications, or the networks can support the applications furthest by depressing the QoS requirements of applications. So, the execution of applications is guaranteed better, and the lifetime of networks is prolonged at the same time.
