SETTLING AND REPRODUCTION OF FLOATING MUD ON THE SEA BOTTOM

摘要

The floating mud on the bottom of coastal area plays an important role in the coastal environment. It is important to understand the movement of the particulate organic matter and the amount of the floating mud depositing in the coastal area. But the settling process of the particulate organic matter can be changed intricately with the physical phenomena such as current and chemical phenomena such as degradation process of organic matter, so it is difficult to understand the settling process of the particulate organic matter. In this paper, the long term field observations were held at Hiroshima Bay. In the result, it is suggested that the settling process of the particulate organic matter is influenced by the intensity of stratification.
