Local pull-through failures at the screw connections of steel cladding systems are a common occurrence during high wind events. Therefore local pull-through failures have been investigated with an objective to develop adequate design rules. Since the local pull-through failures in the less ductile high tensile steel claddings are initiated by transverse splitting at the fastener hole, analytical studies have not been able to determine the pull-through failure loads. Therefore an appropriate splitting criterion was first developed using laboratory experiments of crest-fixed steel claddings. This paper presents the details of the experimental studies and the results.
