In the paper an application of optical method of electronic speckle correlation interferometry for observation of moisture spreading in AAC porous material is described. The method makes feasible whole field observation of object deformation distribution induced by moisture and/or temperature gradients. Specific problems of both the measuring sensitivity and decorrelation of double-exposure speckle patterns reflected off the coarse-grained material surface are discussed. To demonstrate the possibilities, a sorption experiment has been arranged and the results of water front rate are compared with these simulated numerically.
