SUB-STANDARD WORKMANSHIP OF CURTAIN WALL FACADES

摘要

The UK curtain walling industry has been criticised for its inability to deliver cladding systems that are both well considered in their design and defect free upon installation. Whilst the supply and fix costs of curtain walling can account for as much as 25% of the total project cost, it appears that its design, procurement and installation seldom takes account of this fact, evidenced by 50% of all curtain wall installations leaking. This paper presents the findings of a research dissertation that aimed to define and investigate the factors that contribute towards the sub-standard workmanship of curtain wall facade installations.
