ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF POSCO CONSTRUCTION, KOREA

摘要

POSCO construction has caused environmental problems around Pohang coast. Majorrnimpacts include the bathymetric change, and the water pollution. A systematic investigationrnwas undertaken to distinguish the reasons of the unwanted bathymetric changes and therndegradation of the water quality around the Songdo Beach. Study results expose thatrndredging and extention of the East Breakwater of Old Pohang Harbour are the major causesrnof the bathymetric changes at Songdo Beach. Construction of a groin at the river mouth mayrnhelp the water quality inside the bay in a sense.
