Information Relevance and Qualitative Reasoning under Uncertainty

The central purpose of this paper is the use of the information relevance notion in qualitative reasoning under uncertainty. We study the notions of uncertainty and relevance and we present a qualitative theory to reasoning with uncertain information. This approach enables us to represent the uncertainty in ignorance form, as in common-sense reasoning, by using linguistic expressions of the interval [Certain, Completely uncertain ]. The axiomatic of our approach is inspired by the Shannon entropy theory and built on the substrate of a symbolic many-valued logic. This logic framework allows us to process qualitatively the uncertainty and the relevance of information.
