The widespread use of computers and the constant increase of online computer-based tutoring systems, makes it difficult to support users for effective training and learning based on their own time and pace. Towards this end. we propose a multi-agent system architecture, which consists of several software agents with similar architecture and functionalities. The agents act as mediators between the learners and the tutoring system environment. The main purpose of this work is to develop agents that are able to interact with the learners and provide them with the set of materials that match their performance. This paper focuses on the design of the agents' problem solver that makes them able to make changes to the tutoring material schedule. A prototype of this system is being implemented using the IBM Agent Building Environment Toolkit.
