In this work, detailed measurements of the air flow inside a single passage in a vane separator is presented, along with predicted variables from a CFD package. The measurements are obtained by using a LDA technique, and small amounts of water droplets are used as tracer particles. The simulations cover various turbulence models, near wall treatments, and structured grid as well as un-structured grid simulations. The simulations show that a proper matching between the grid and the near wall treatment is important. In the separator the flow is satisfactorily predicted, although some deviations exist for the prediction of the recirculation zones.
