A simple accelerometer detection technique based on the measurement of the optical convolution between two identical fiber Bragg gratings, one used as areference and the other used as a sensor, is presented. Theoretical calcualtions on sensitivity and for different tolerances on linearity are considered for uniform and apodized gratings at diffeent refletivity levels. Experimental measurements made with a Hopkinson bar setup where one graitng is used as an acceleation sensor are presented.
