The parameter Modal Strain Energy Change (MSEC) is used in the correlation matching of the Multiple Damage Location Assurance Criterion (MDLAC) to localize damage in a five storeys steel plane frame. Incomplete measured information is included without expansion of the measured data or reduction of the models. Numerical examples and experimental results show that the MDLAC method performs better with the MSEC in the correlation comparison than the mode shapes in damage localization with or without noise effect.
