The Use of Medical Devices in Self Monitoring of Chronic Diseases

The range and complexity of medical devices used in homecare are increasing. Home medical devices must be safer, easier to use and more accessible for all users. The safety and the efficiency of the medical device used depend on the device's design, users' ability to operate with devices and the used environments for devices. In order to investigate the proper operation of the medical device and to identify sources and the nature of difficulties in their use, there were investi gated three self monitoring medical devices which are most frequently used by the patients of Diagnostic and Treatment Center Cluj-Napoca for their chronic disease management The compliance problems, focused on difficulties which may occur during the use of medical device, suggested that the proper functioning of the medical device depend, first of all, on user' competency.
