Electrospinning is an effective way to produce nanofibers, and the morphologies and diameters of Electrospun nanofibers are influenced by electrical field and solution properties which contain evaporation, viscosity, surface tension, and charge density et al. Different solvents may contribute different solution properties. To investigate the solvent effect on electrospinning, Secondary Cellulose Acetate (SCA) solutions were prepared with dimethylacetamide (DMAc), acetone and mixture of both as solvents (the ratio of DMAc: Acetone is 100: 0, 80:20, 60: 40, 40: 60, 20:80, 0: 100 by volume %). Commonly, low viscosity and surface tension can get thin nanofibers, but the acetone plays an important role in this experiment because of its high volatility which yields the reversed results. With the increase of acetone content in solution, the diameters of electrospun nanofibers become large and the surfaces are full of pits.
