For the size of the framing members of a steel structure is small, then it should be taken care on the stability problem of a steel building. The attraction of a steel building depends on the solution of its structure. In Izmir, there are some old steel buildings, aged nearly 150 years old. Some of them are railway stations, esp.two of them are worth to investigate, still in use, and there is a Fish Market-Konak Pier, supposed to be designed by Gustave Eiffel, and there are some other steel buildings which are not in use. In Ephesus, nearly 90 km.far from Izmir, there are terrace houses in the Ruin Area. Now they have a new cover, constructed with stee, polycarbonate and membrane. In the railway stations and in the fish market, the details are simple and elegant. In the cover of terrace houses, the structure has a more detailed solution. Every built example is different from the point of structural solution. But in all of them it is not possible to feel the stability elements separate from the structural system. They were adapted into the system in a natural way such as masonary walls, or cables, or some architectural details as a whole. The stability of framing system in Ephesus Terrace Houses is in contrast with the environmental conditions. In the paper, these points will be highlighted from the architectural point of view with a discuss of engineering details.
