PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a steel cord useful as a reinforcing material for a rubber article such as pneumatic tire or industrial belt. ;CONSTITUTION: In a method for producing a steel cord obtained by twisting three or six steel filaments coated so as to maintain adhesion to rubber, the steel filaments are embossed ≥120% and twisted to provide a steel cord of an open structure. Then in order to make the section of the steel cord flat, the steel cord is passed through a flattening device 20 which is equipped with rollers A having a groove on the center of the circumferential surface at an inlet and an outlet sides and with at least one roller B having a flat circumferential surface at a middle part between the inlet and the outlet sides and repeatedly bends the steel cord in the vertical direction and in the right and left direction to provide a method for producing steel cord.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
