摘要

The present paper is addressed to the examination of current application of nonlinear analysis, regarding two-dimensional steel-framed structures, following the main guidelines of the "Advanced Analysis Concept". The subject is discussed in the Brazilian context, taking into account the fact that the national code for steel building design and erection (NBR-8800, 1986) is currently under revision. An inelastic 2D beam-column element has been implemented for the analyse of framed structures. A set of tangent modulus originated from the Eurocode-3 buckling curves is also presented. A computer program was developed and it has being used in the prediction of the collapse mode of framed structures. The consideration of refined elastic-plastic analysis for steel frame design is outlined and it has been taken as a new step for Brazilian structural researchers and designers.
