The presented data show, that performance of 2K PU paints is very much dependent on polymer structure of the acrylic polyol. Both waterborne polyols give good results in terms of application, hardness and chemical stability especially at low induction times and when elevated temperatures can be used. The polyol based on the single step synthesis route is superior in potlife, hardness and chemical stability. Even at ambient temperature a good performance level can be obtained with VSM 6299w. The extraordinarily low VOC level of 0,8 lb/gal indicates, that this kind of acrylic polyol dispersion already fits the demands of the VOC regulations, which will have to be considered in the future.
