Based on the material mechanical behavior investigation of projectile and target, the process of truncated cylindroconical projectile penetrating thin steel target with oblique angle of 0° and 45° was simulated by LS-DYNA. The interaction between projectile and target at normal impact can be divided into two phases, the deformation and failure of projectile and target. The tumbling movement of projectile at 45 ° oblique penetration varies with impact velocity.
