摘要

An integrated water resources management plan for the restoration of the lake Koronia is presented in the paper. Alternative exploitation plans of the deeper aquifer are examined through a groundwater simulation model of the complex shallow - deeper aquifer system, and the impacts of these scenarios to the groundwater levels and balance are considered and evaluated. For sustainability purposes, not only the rehabilitation of the lake water resources, but also the restoration of the disturbed groundwater balance is considered. The finally suggested integrated water resources management plan is a combination of an engineering project of recharging the lake with rather moderate quantities of groundwater from the deeper aquifer for a five year period, under the condition of taking measures in the agricultural sector for water conservation through the implementation of a program of crop change and replacement of the existed irrigation methods with more water saving ones.
